John 11:28-36

Hey all!

I know, 2 posts in 2 days! I had to write this post because it really touched me and it is a message I think we all need to hear.

Two days ago, I read these verses and bookmarked them so I could go back and read them again because it was just too powerful.

28 When she had said this, she went and called her sister Mary, saying in private, “The Teacher is here and is calling for you.” 29 And when she heard it, she rose quickly and went to him. 30 Now Jesus had not yet come into the village, but was still in the place where Martha had met him. 31 When the Jews who were with her in the house, consoling her, saw Mary rise quickly and go out, they followed her, supposing that she was going to the tomb to weep there. 32 Now when Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet, saying to him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” 33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled. 34 And he said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to him, “Lord, come and see.” 35 Jesus wept. 36 So the Jews said, “See how he loved him!”

Right at the beginning, verse 28, we see Martha went to call Mary to tell her that Jesus was calling her. Notice what Mary did, she rose quickly and went to him.

The second thing I want us to notice, is that Jesus was still where Martha had found him.

Next, those who were with Mary followed her.

When Jesus saw Mary was weeping, he was deeply moved.

If you haven't seen where I am going with this, allow me to explain.

In life, there are times where we get so down and swept up in the lows of life, but even in Mary's sadness, when Jesus called her, it does not say that she took a minute to compose herself. No, it says that she rose quickly and went straight to Jesus. When we are called, we have to move with a sense of urgency, because there is a reason. Though we do not know what the reason is, as Mary did not, it is a big, beautiful and glorious reason.

Something I love about God is that, he does not move. He is waiting for us to come to him. Even in the story of the prodigal son, the father was waiting and watching for the son's return. Martha found Jesus and he told her to go get Mary. Jesus in all his glory, had knowledge of where he had to go, but because he called Mary, he waited for her. He didn't leave because he wanted her to find him with ease.

God uses us for good. We do not know who we are bringing to Jesus. How many souls we are winning for the kingdom. When Mary got up, she did not ask anyone to follow her but they did and further down in the story, they witnessed a miracle. When God asks you to move, do it. Even if it does not benefit you in the way you want it to. You do not know who God is reaching through you.

Finally, The heart Jesus has for us is huge. In all his glory and majesty, he is moved by us, God's creation. He came down from Heaven and became like us to save us. He didn't have to do that and even in Gethsemane (Matthew 26:39) He asked if the cup can pass him, but he did it for us and for the will of God. That moves my heart. So, Jesus knows how you feel. Whether you are sad, or scared of going where he has sent you. He understands you and he loves you, so much that he will not let you go alone.

In the verses after, with a prayer to the father Jesus resurrected Lazarus and the Glory, power and truth of Jesus and who he is was made known.

Not only were the people who followed Mary witnesses, we are too. Jesus could have resurrected Lazarus in private, but for belief to enter our hearts he called Mary and because she followed, people for thousands of years have witnessed the miracle that Jesus performed that day, and thousands more will be able to partake in it.

When God calls, run.

I hope that meant something to you. As always....

Stay Blessed,

Jaeden x
